Spring Cleaning

Punxsutawney Phil may have decreed six more weeks of winter, but I’m choosing to ignore that and embrace the spirit of spring!

I’ve always loved the idea of seasonal cleaning, whether it’s sweeping grime off floors or combing through drawers and closets to think about what you want to keep and what you want to get rid of. In a similar fashion, I’ve taken the first few months of 2025 to evaluate my life and also establish a better work-life balance. Spending time with family, sleeping in, even taking a little break from reading–it’s all been really necessary to recuperate from what was a really difficult year.

While I have not posted in a while, it doesn’t mean that I’ve completely abandoned my beloved LiteraryintheCity. The past few months have also involved a lot of thinking, brainstorming, and planning for a new, upgraded version of my blog. I have more books I want to explore and more thoughts about the literary world (especially given that, right now, book bans are happening all over the world). I’m really excited about what I’ve got planned.

A really crucial lesson I’ve learnt is that while work and personal projects are incredible to have, there is something extremely valuable in taking a step away and reflecting on what it is you are doing and why. Often, it just ensures that you can build something even better, even stronger.

So, I really encourage all of you to embrace the spirit of spring cleaning, whether it’s physical, emotional, or spiritual. Take a quick second to just look around and see what might need some dusting. That’s it for now, but I’ll return very soon.

Looking forward to the future,

H.
